Looking into the darkness of the night… kunju hunts for her favourite moon… I am desperately trying to put her to sleep. Its going to be 11.45 pm and i promise myself… i am going to do it before the clock strikes 12…AMEN!!
kunju : ( clinging to the window grills with eyes wide open… screaming out ) moooooonnn …mooonn… where aaaarrrre youuuu mooooonnn?????
KM ( kunju’s moon ) : ( despite having no hope of putting her super awake child to sleep , pets kunju ) moon went to sleep rajaa… you also sleep now..come sweety.. lie down on my lap
kunju : ( still clinging on to the grills … gazing up waiting for her moon to appear .. screams out yet again) mooooonnnn !!!
KM : ( after much struggle, sweet talking and perseverance, manages to make kunju let go of the grills and lie down on the lap…opens her favorite bedtime book) shall i read this book to you? your fav. .. ducky book?
kunju: ESS ( meaning yes )
KM : There were five ducklings and….
kunju: ( excited ) THERE!!!
KM: what sweety…
kunju : there it is… hahahahahha…. ( points outside the window ) MOOOOONNNNN
Indeed the moon has appeared from behind the clouds..kunju runs to her grills again… ( damn!!!! ) has a sweet conversation with the moon..the clock is ticking.. its 5mins to 12 now..damn..damn … damn!!
kunju : (with her arms completely stretched out of the window.. as if to shake hands with moon) how aaaare you moooonnnnn?? sheeepinnggg?? ( sleeping ?) chuckles… ( turns around excitedly and proves to me) mummy!!! seeee… mooooonnnnnn….
KM: ( to myself ) yea rgt baby… damn me for not drawing the curtains…
What time did she finally sleep? 12: 25 am .. haha… so much for all my planning !! i know kids who sleep off at 8..hellooooo!! 8???? i’d be in heaven if kunju even sleeps off by 10 pm…
and then.. she is really funny in her sleep.. she sits up in her sleep and manages to sit up for a while.. not able to be balance ( obviously) and talks..hahahaah…. she screams for “paintingg” some days.. the character of her books someday.. some friends name and the funniest, she was saying, ” scatching..scatching!! ” ( scratching ) the other day while busy scratching her toe.. hahah.. i scratched sleepily for her and she peacefully went back to sleep.
